World Wildlife Day (WWD) was proclaimed by the UN to celebrate and raise awareness of the world's wild animals and plants, and is the most important global annual event for wildlife. WWD will be celebrated in 2022 under the theme "Recovering key species for ecosystem restoration". This year’s debate will be driven towards the imperative need to reverse the fate of the most critically endangered species, to support the restoration of their habitats and ecosystems, and to promote their sustainable use by humanity. The event, featuring panel discussions from UN representatives and environmental organisations, will be livestreamed on the WWD Youtube Channel at 9PM (UTC +8) on March 3rd 2022.
Estimates suggest that over a million species of flora and fauna are threatened with extinction. Continued loss of species, habitats and ecosystems also threaten the biodiverse ecosystem. Humans rely on wildlife and biodiversity-based resources to meet all our needs, from food, to fuel, medicines, housing, and clothing. Kualesa’s products are made from bamboo fibres, an eco-friendly textile due to the speed and abundance of growth of bamboo plants.
Ecosystem restoration is a key part of Kualesa’s goal in our reforestation initiative. For every order, we are planting one tree (of the hardwood, fruit or bamboo variety) with the help of the indigenous locals (or Orang Asli) in a deforested region of Malaysia’s protected National Park. This scheme will reclaim ecosystems for native species of flora and fauna, and ultimately contribute to a net positive impact from your purchase.
