Introduction

Everyone knows bamboo, but not everyone knows how important it is. For World Bamboo Day 2022, we will talk about the significance of bamboo, its uses, its impact on the environment, and its role as the one of the most sustainable sources of fabric for clothing.

What is Bamboo?

First, let's understand what it actually is. Well, it is a fast-growing grass that can grow up to 3 feet in one day. This makes bamboo the fastest-growing plant on earth! There are over 1,000 species of bamboo and they all have a hollow stem that stores water.

Significance of Bamboo

Bamboo is an eco-friendly material. It has a more positive environmental impact than any other plant on Earth, and it is one of the most sustainable resources available today. It grows quickly, thrives in harsh climates, and can be harvested every 3-5 years without harming its growth cycle. It grows faster than any other woody plant on earth. The harvesting process for bamboo involves cutting mature stalks close to ground level when they are between 2-3 years old (the exact age depends on the species).

Bamboo and the Environment

Bamboo is a fast-growing plant that absorbs carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, making it one of the most sustainable plants in the world. It is extremely strong, durable and an amazing plant for maintaining ecological balance. It absorbs five times more carbon dioxide and produces 35% more oxygen than any other hardwood tree making it one of the best plants in fighting climate change. Unlike cotton which requires large amounts of water to grow and harvest, bamboo is a much more sustainable resource that can be grown year after year without the need for pesticides or fertilizers. Furthermore, bamboo has the ability to regenerate soil to make them fertile for cultivation and forestation. Hence, promoting biodiversity in desolate areas that are ruined by the plantation industry.

Uses of Bamboo

Bamboo is used in many products, including clothing, furniture, flooring, and building materials. Bamboo paper products are also common. Some foods are made from bamboo shoots and bamboo shoots are used to make tea.

It is also used in medicine; it has been shown to be effective at reducing inflammation when taken orally or as a topical application. In addition to this anti-inflammatory property of bamboo extracts (especially those derived from the root), they have been shown to exhibit antibacterial properties as well.

It can be found in cosmetics manufacturing because of its antioxidant properties that help protect against free radicals which cause damage to cells over time leading up to ageing or certain diseases like cancer among others!

Moreover, bamboo is an excellent source of textile for sustainable fashion.

Bamboo for Sustainable Fashion

Bamboo clothing is a great alternative to fabrics that doesn’t require much energy and water to produce. It's sustainable, biodegradable, and stylish! There are different types of fabric that are developed using bamboo, like, Bamboo Viscose, Bamboo Linen and Bamboo Lyocell. Bamboo Lyocell is our first choice fabric in our collections because it makes our clothing super breathable and crazy comfortable. Here are some reasons why you should wear clothes made using Bamboo Lyocell:

It helps reduce pollution in the environment. How? Well, first off it's made from a renewable resource and is biodegradable so when you're done with your clothes you can throw them away instead of having them sit around in landfills forever until they decompose into nothingness which could take thousands of years, whereas Bamboo Lyocell takes 12-18 months. Also since bamboo grows quickly this means there won't be any need for more trees to be cut down which will help save other species that depend on those forests for survival. Lastly because bamboo requires less pesticides than cotton or wool products there will also be less runoff into streams and rivers so fewer chemicals go into our water supply every day!

So what makes bamboo fabric special? Well first off it's not only durable enough to stand up against regular wear but also super soft enough that it feels great against your skin without being itchy like some synthetics can get after a while. Clothes made out of Bamboo Lyocell are perfect for athleisure, like golf, tennis and workleisure, much like our Batik Tribute Polos and Solid Polos. However, our Relaxed Set and Solid Tees are perfect for any casual occasion both indoors and outdoors. Secondly, there aren't any harmful dyes used during production which means no toxic chemicals end up coming out while washing either; this also means no dye stains on clothing after washing either which is nice because who has time these days!
